Stay Cool! God Bless

{July 25, 2007}   Just a Thought

This blog is a work in progress.  I am currently trying to understand these terms.  My Pastor discussed these things in a Wednesday night sermon.  My mind was intrigued and I am currently looking into them.  Please feel free to post your comments.

Eschatological

Study of End Times

(Dictionary.com, 2007, Retrieved 24 July 07 from http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/eschatological).

Theological

Study of God

(Dictionary. Com, 2007, Retrieved 24 July 07 from http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Theological).

Below are three categories of three different styles of belief, as I learn more of each style, I will blog more.

Style 1

Postmillennialism

The doctrine or belief that the second coming of Christ will follow the millennium.

There are some that believe that once the church establishes the Kingdom of God on earth, he will return.  That good will gradually triumph over evil without a final battle.

(Reference.com, 2007, Retrieved 25 July 07 from http://www.reference.com/browse/wiki/Postmillennialism).

Style 2

Premillennialism

The doctrine or belief that the Second Coming of Christ will precede the millennium.

Jesus Christ returns, saves those that belong to him.  Satan is cast down.  When released after 1000 years, another battle, the final battle, Satan is defeated by Jesus.

(Reference.com, 2007, Retrieved 24 July 07 from http://www.reference.com/browse/wiki/Premillennialism).   A penultimate period, a period next to the last period, Jesus will return not placing one foot on this earth and taking those who belong to him.  (Dictionary.com, 2007, Retrieved 24 July 07 from http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/penultimate).  On his second return, he returns to the earth for the final battle defeating Satan.

Style 3

Amillennialism

1.  A thousand-year period of holiness mentioned in Revelation 20, during which Jesus and his faithful followers are to rule on earth.

2.  A hoped-for period of joy, serenity, prosperity, and justice.

3.  A thousandth anniversary.

No literal View of Christ Return, No kingdom of God, that the kingdom of God is a spiritual place in heaven. (Reference.com, 2007, Retrieved 25 Jul 07 from http://www.reference.com/browse/wiki/Amillennialism)
