{October 30, 2008}   Economy Meltdown

Oh my gosh, people are gripping because the spending habits of citizens dropped this past summer.  What do they expect, when companies all over have laid-off, cut back to top it all off just before all these unemployed positions occurred we had a few big scandals in the major business environments.  Just think there were some scandals within big companies that did not make it to the big time news nation wide.

I was reading this article entitled Economy shrinks….with a photo of an ice sculpture melting.

All I have to say to this is how can citizens go out spending money, when most are concerned with paying the necessary bills to stay a float.  Who cares about the latest outfit?  UUUaaahhHH.

Okay, I guess you can tell I am frustrated over how the government wants us to spend money thinking it will some how avoid the recession that has begun, not may have.  The government bailed out AIG, which is great, but they should consider other businesses as well.  I am finding it hard to trust working for a living.  No matter how hard I work or how excellent my work is and the fact I have received outstanding marks and praises for my work ethics and abilities I am unemployed.  Perhaps it is the area I am in.

A book I have finished reading written by Pastor Jentezen Franklin talks about being in the right place.  I must not be in the right place.  I am just waiting for my house to sell to move away.  Going where God wants me to be, then perhaps I will have stability and success via being in the "Will of GOD".  What I want most of all is to be where God wants me to be.  To be associated with the people He wants me to be associated with.

{October 11, 2008}   Chapter 6: Right Plan

It is no surprise that I am just reading this chapter considering some new circumstances in my life right now.   It has been a month now since I was laid off.  This chapter mentions how God has a plan for the miracles we ask for.  That God provides instruction.

I had been praying for a few miracles in my life.  I did not realize in doing so I might have to give up my current surroundings, but I am willing to go where He directs.  I did not expect to loose my job, nor did I want to move.  But I do trust Him and know He has a plan.  Although, I do not have a job yet, I know He will supply it in His perfect timing.  I am packing because I know He is telling me to.  Where I am going, I believe God has shown me the general area.  When I am going, I believe God has given me a deadline or a goal if you will.  How I am going to get there is still unforeseen, but I trust Him to provide all my needs.  Therefore I am being obedient to what I know He is telling me.

Pastor Franklin reminds us of different situations in the bible where God had a plan or purpose for every miracle.  Also how God’s ideas are not just good ideas they are great miracles.  Remember a few men of more recent past that have done well by being obedient, Thomas Edison, the electric light bulb; The Wright brothers, flight or aviation; and Bill Gates, personal computers.   In the bible, Joshua bring down the walls of Jericho.  Naaman sought healing for his leprosy.  Samson before his birth gave his mother received instruction not to cut his hair and was given the purpose for Samson’s life.  Elizabeth and Zacharias the birth of John the Baptist.  There were other stories mentioned in this chapter.  They showed how God provided instruction just before the miracle.

Sometimes God’s plan is driven by unexpected events that force us in a direction we would have never gone.   Unexpected to us, but planned by HIM.  It does not matter what background we come from, nor the things previously done, nor the parents we came from, God can and loves to make something from nothing.

Ephesians 2:10 "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before hand that we should walk in them."  I like how Pastor Franklin states, "When you were created, God encoded you for an assignment, and He gave you the power to get it done."

Esther the Queen who replaced Queen Vashti to King Ahasuerus was a no body who came from a poor environment.  She was an orphan girl.  Her ‘godly uncle’, Mordecai had raised her and groomed her for greatness.  Mordecai was not her blood uncle.  In my life, God has provided the godly family I needed to also groom me and prepare me for greatness.  In South Carolina the family known as the Lambs’ became my godly parents and my oldest’s godly grandparents.  I will never forget them and how God used them in my life.  Here, when I first returned, God provided the Chapmans’ and Lena who helped groom me.  Lastly I have my dear pastor, Pastor Johnson, who is now being used by God to help me, to prepare me for greatness.

I like knowing God can and has a habit of picking up nobodies and making them somebodies.  I do not come from what society considers a good background.  In fact I have what is understood as a disadvantaged background.  No not an orphan, thankfully.  But I would rather not go into all that right now, just know I did not have a great start nor the opportunities some of you have had.

I realize for every calling there is discipline and once God does bless me with this miracle to come, I have to remember to stay in His presence.   The enemy is continually out to cause us to be pulled out of the will of God, to cause us to fall.  He wants to destroy us for we are God’s creation.  When we are in the will of God, He will provide people to help us.  They may not know why or can not explain why, but must help out of obedience to Him.  He will even use our enemies to make the way for us.  Proverbs 16:7 "When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him."

In this chapter, it is stated, " with praise comes prophecy, direction, and God’s plan for your life."  That is very pleasing to my ears/eyes.   I did not realize that praising him was like perfume.  Men like the scent of a woman as God likes the sounds of our praise.   Praise is more then making a noise.  It is the invitation to the presence of God.

Remember even Jesus prayed, "Not My will, but Yours be done."  Luke 22:42

I am praying for God to give me the right plan in my life.  I am willing to let go of the past, of the old things.  Luke 17:32 reminds us that when God does something new it will not be like the old.  Lot’s wife could not let go of the past, she turned to stone for looking back.  It is time to begin what He is called me to do.  I do know that I will be doing a new thing like in Isaiah, God told His prophet, "Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth."  Isaiah 43:19  He has transformed this timid girl into a bold lady for a reason.
