{April 11, 2009}   How Mysterious God Is

Beautiful story…. makes you understand that things happen for a reason.

A brand new pastor and his wife, newly assigned to their first ministry, to reopen a church in suburban Brooklyn.  They arrived in early October excited about their opportunities when they saw their church, it was very run down and needed much work. They set a goal to have everything done in time to have their first service on Christmas Eve.  They worked hard, repairing pews, plastering walls, painting, etc, and on December 18 were ahead of schedule and just about finished.  On December 19 a terrible tempest – a driving rainstorm hit the area and lasted for two days.  On the 21st, the pastor went over to the church. His heart sank when he saw that the roof had leaked, causing a large area of plaster about 20 feet by 8 feet to fall off the front wall of the sanctuary just behind the pulpit, beginning about head high.
The pastor cleaned up the mess on the floor,
and not knowing what else to do but postpone the Christmas Eve service, headed home.

On the way he noticed that a local business was having a flea market type sale for charity so he stopped in. One of the items was a beautiful, handmade, ivory colored, crocheted tablecloth with exquisite work, fine colors and a Cross
embroidered right in the center. It was just the right size to cover up the hole in the front
wall. He bought it and headed back to the church.

By this time it had started to snow. An older woman running from the opposite direction was trying to catch the bus.. She missed it. The pastor invited her to wait in the warm church for the next bus 45 minutes later.

She sat in a pew and paid no attention to the pastor while he got a ladder, hangers, etc., to put up the tablecloth as a wall tapestry. The pastor could hardly believe how beautiful it looked and it covered up the entire problem area.

hen he noticed the woman walking down the center aisle.

Her face was like a sheet.. ‘Pastor,’ she asked, ‘where did you get that tablecloth?’

The pastor explained.

The woman asked him to check the lower right corner to see if the initials, EBG were crocheted into it there. They were. These were the initials of the woman, and she had made this tablecloth 35 years before, in Austria.  The woman could hardly believe it as the pastor told how he had just gotten the Tablecloth. The woman explained that before the war she and her husband were well-to-do people in Austria.  When the Nazis came, she was forced to leave.  Her husband was going to follow her the next week.. He was captured, sent to prison and never saw her husband or her home again. The pastor wanted to give her the tablecloth;
but she made the pastor keep it for the church.
The pastor insisted on driving her home, that was the least he could do.. She lived on the other side of Staten Island and was only in Brooklyn for the day for a housecleaning job.

hat a wonderful service they had on Christmas Eve. The church was almost full. The music and the spirit were great. At the end of the service, the pastor and his wife greeted everyone at the door and many said that they would return.
One older man, whom the pastor recognized
from the neighborhood continued to sit in one of the pews and stare, and the pastor wondered why he wasn’t leaving.

The man asked him where he got the tablecloth on the front wall because it was identical to one that his wife had made years ago when they lived in Austria before the war and how could there be two tablecloths so much alike. He told the pastor how the Nazis came, how he Forced his wife to flee for her safety and he was supposed to follow her, but he was arrested and put in a prison.. He never saw his wife or his home again all the 35 years in between.

he pastor asked him if he would allow him to take him for a little ride. They drove to Staten Island and to the same house where the pastor had taken the woman three days earlier. He helped the man climb the three flights of
Stairs to the woman’s apartment, knocked on the door and he saw the greatest Christmas Reunion he could ever imagine.

True Story – submitted by Pastor Rob Reid

Who says God does not work in mysterious ways.. I asked the Lord to bless you as I prayed for you today, to guide you and protect you as you go along your way. His love is always with you, His promises are true, and when we give Him all our cares you know He will see us through.

o when the road you’re traveling on seems difficult at best.. Just remember I’m here praying and God will do the rest.

When there is nothing left but God, that is when you find out that God is all you need.

Take 60 seconds and give this a shot! All you do is simply say the following small prayer for the persons in your life.  Father, God, bless all my friends and family in what ever it is that You know they may be needing this day! May their life be full of your peace, prosperity and power and HEALTH!!!!! as he/she seeks to have a closer relationship with you. Amen

{April 10, 2009}   Good News to Share

Today the wind wasn’t blowing, at least not as bad as yesterday. By the water it was cold, but in the park on the basketball court it was pleasant. Matt played with other kids big and small. When all the kiddos left, I played one on one with him. Letting him score and win.

We came home to our quiet little apartment. I have had a wonderful week. I am so excited for my friend Jase, the man who has my heart second to Jesus. Jesus is the #1 man in my life. Anyway, my friend Jase announced he is going to go to seminary school and leaves in 3.5 to 4 months. My prayer for him finally answered. When we met in 2006, he told me he was never going back to school and wasn’t interested in full-time ministry. He had all the other characteristics I have ever wanted except that one desire, but sometime in 2007, God grabbed hold of him and changed his heart, soul, and mind about this. Some of you who have known me since I was a child or even when I was in my twenties, would know I have had a heart for missions both within the US and global. My love and desire to serve the Lord was one of the things that caused problems in my marriage, but now God has shown me that there is indeed a man on this planet that meets ALL the desires of my heart. I compromised a lot when I married my ex, but as my ex said via his own mouth, "I put up a front to win your heart, but I …." stuff I don’t care to recap. Anyway, in 2006, when I was at the lowest point in my life going through difficulties, I prayed asking God if there was anyone on this earth who had all the characteristics I have ever wanted. After all, God did create me and put those desires in me to begin with. Low and behold the later part of June 2006 I met Jase. The enemy has tried to delay, destroy our friendship, but thankfully God has answered yet another prayer. We are talking more, and I pray that we will be able to grow closer together via our friendship hoping to lead to more. I know in my heart he is the one for me, but there is allot we don’t know about each other. I pray now that the distance has been shortened between us, at least for a few months, that Jase will allow God to show him the me He has transformed into His image. The me God has been preparing for a man as himself. After all, it is said that any great relationship has to begin with friendship. I only pray and hope that Jase is not too prideful to allow God to put His love in his heart for me.

Okay enough of that. Work has been wonderful. Still in training, learning lots. I can tell I have God’s favor. I praise Him for that. When I do anything whether at work, at home, or out in public, I try to do it as though I am doing it for the Lord. After all, I aim to glorify God. He is the one who deserves all the credit for what I have and what I don’t have. He is always there to protect, provide, teach, guide, and comfort me.

Matt is doing great in school and the child learning center. He has had so far two Easter Egg Hunts. One at school and one at the child learning center. I could have taken him to the egg hunt at work tonight, but he opted out. He wanted to go to the park at the lake. So we went to the park. Two egg hunts in one day, not a good idea I guess, and I understood. I didn’t push it. He will have another one at church on Sunday. The men are cooking the congregation breakfast. Whoohoo!!

Chris seems to be doing just fine. We had a wonderful visit last weekend. I spoke to him on the phone two days ago. It was nice. Last night with the FIRES in the city, his school was at risk. The fires got extremely close to his high school and on the news, you couldn’t really see the school due to the smoke. According to the news, they were able to keep the fire from damaging the school and the football field. I spoke to my ex, the fires were about 2 miles from where they lived. It seems a good chunk of the South, SE, lower NE areas of OKC were affected. Keep Oklahoma in your prayers, especially those without homes today.

Well, my heart goes out to those folks tonight. I wish I was in a position to provide some kind of support, but all I can do is pray.

How was YOUR week?
