Malachi 3:3  says;  "And he shall  sit as a refiner and purifier of silver."[kjv]

This  verse puzzled some women in a bible study and they wondered what  this statement meant about the character and nature of  God.

One  of the women offered to find out the  process  of refining silver and get back to  the group at their next  Bible Study.

That  week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment  to watch him at work. She didn’t  mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her  curiosity about the process of refining  Silver.

As  she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over  the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining  silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the  fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the  impurities.

The  woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then  she thought again about the verse that says:  ‘He  sits as a refiner and purifier of  silver.’ She  asked the silversmith if it was true that he  had to  sit there in front of the fire the whole time.

The  man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding  the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the  entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a  moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.

The  woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith,  ‘How do you know when the silver is fully  refined?’
He  smiled at her and answered, ‘Oh,  that’s easy — when I see  my image in it.’

If  today you are feeling the heat of the  fire,  remember that  God has his eye on you and will keep watching you until He  sees His  image  in  you.

{May 11, 2009}   Mother’s Day 2009

I woke up just like any other Sunday morning and cooked breakfast for the boys. Today was simple breakfast, bacon and over easy eggs.

At church we had a wonderful Mother’s day treat before Sunday school, fruits, muffins, and pastries. All the mothers sitting at the decorated tables got pictures taken with their children sitting next to them. It was nice. I had my oldest and my youngest with me today. I felt very blessed. The church had a special song sung by a few of the kids during service, also the kids had made a clay imprint of their hand some time ago to give to us today. The Sunday school teacher had beautiful little gifts for the mothers’ as a gift from their youngest. It was …WOW… Then at the end of service the church handed out a single rose to all the mothers. Mine was a mix of red and pink, and yes it was a real flower.

After church the boys and I enjoyed a pleasant picnic in the park. We ate sandwiches and chips with soda. There was a small chill due to the light breeze off the water; the sky was cloudy but no rain. Matt skated boarded for a while and Chris a little too, but mostly we played basket ball. Matt and I were on a team against Chris. Chris gave us a good game, or as the saying goes "A run for our money" hahaha.

We came home to rest. Matt of course did not want to come home. He would have rather stayed out longer. I tell ya, no sooner then we got home, he was sitting on the couch, and the poor boy passed out for a good 2 hours. Chris and I watched the movie, The Astronaut Farmer. It was good and inspirational. I liked how the ‘family’ environment was portrayed in this movie.

Later all three of us ended up at the gym to work out. My muscles have gotten week just in the last 2.5 to 3 months I have not worked out. HMMMM Shame on me!!

Now the evening is setting in, I am sitting here blessed beyond my ears. Why you ask? Because! I have two wonderful boys who love me. I may not have a lot of money or materialistic things, and I may wear clothes that are 3 to 8 years old, but I have a happy home. My little one still needs to learn how to be content with what he has and not want so much. Sometime he comes across so selfish, but it will be hard to break on my own considering he has a father who just spoils and spoils. I don’t know, but if you ask me, he is just trying to buy their love. Truthfully that is how he persuaded my oldest to live with him. BUT my boys know I love them. I know they love me. I praise God for that.

While we watched our movie, the rain came. I was thankful we were home and matt was napping. As I drove back from dropping off my oldest back at his father’s, Matt and I drove through a light rain as we entered back into the north part of town. With the trees and greenery outside, the rain makes this place feel clean, fresh, and comfortable.

I apologize for the detour!.  I will get back to writing on the two books at hand.  My life has been so busy that I haven’t been blogging or writing much.
